Concept design about water, balance and valuing the existing
In 2017, Cape Town experienced an extreme water shortage due to a severe drought. The city faced the possibility of shutting down its water supply system and implementing Day Zero, the day when the taps would run dry. People queued up for water, and the sound of rushing water became socially taboo. In response to the crisis, a curator in Cape Town served water instead of wine at a gallery opening, acknowledging the preciousness of water. Other cities, such as Sao Paulo, Melbourne, London, Beijing, Tokyo, and Barcelona, are predicted to face similar water shortages in the coming decades.

In Israel, it is still hard for most of us to see water running for no reason, yet the average household consumption is 200 liters per person per day, which is a 95% increase from the previous decade. This is in addition to the significant amount of water needed for the production of goods. During the siege of Jerusalem, people were rationed to only 10 liters of water per person per day.
The inspiration for "17 Liters a Day" came from the resourcefulness of desert plants that thrive on minimal water. The project aims to raise awareness about water conservation. By using this set of vessels, designed using iconic ready-made containers, one can be more mindful of the exact amount of water they use each day.
