Neve Tama - Terrazzo

Personal Project

Mentored by: Nati Shamia Opher

2022

As part of the project Neve Tama, a series of terrazzo objects was produced using materials collected from residential buildings designated for demolition. The work explores how fragments of a disappearing structure might be returned to the building’s life cycle rather than discarded.

Stone, concrete, and other elements gathered from the buildings were crushed and incorporated into new terrazzo mixtures. These were then cast into a series of objects: 20×20 cm tiles, mezuzah cases, and a larger cast object referred to as a stool.

Through these castings, the project proposes a circular gesture, transforming the building’s own matter into new forms that could potentially re-enter the architectural environment.
