Usability Research - Smart Hearing Glasses
Nuance Audio
Conducted as part of my work at Context
2025
Pre-launch usability testing
As part of my work at Context, I was part of the team behind a usability research project for Nuance Audio, who developed a first-of-its-kind product: smart glasses that provide personalized sound amplification for people with mild to moderate hearing loss.
Our team defined clear usability criteria and success metrics, and developed a tailored methodology that enabled testing multiple design variations while minimizing user bias. As part of the process, I was involved in participant recruitment and conducting the usability sessions and managed the research operations.
The study was designed to support fast decision-making, in line with the product’s launch timeline, and included testing with a diverse range of users. The research identified key usability challenges, compared the performance of different design variations, and surfaced critical interaction gaps.
These insights enabled the Nuance teams to make informed decisions quickly, select the most effective design direction, and implement targeted improvements ahead of launch, resulting in a more intuitive, reliable, and easy to use product.
